Ffynnon PPD was finally registered as a charity on the 21st of October 2010.This tremendous news and recognition of our work was publically announced on the 30th of October by our Patron Canon Professor Brian Thorne at the Seminar ‘The Power of Being Human’ which he presented with Professor Dave Mearns. This seminar coincidentally marked two years of successful Ffynnon PPD events here in Wales; it was an extraordinary day with a full house of 250 delegates (plus a waiting list!) and a great way for us to move forward into 2011.

There is no other organisation like Ffynnon PPD in North, Mid and perhaps all of Wales and its border counties.  We offer workshops, seminars, conferences and networking groups for people’s personal and professional growth and education (often referred to as CPD or Continuing Professional Development) focused on care, counselling, therapy and pastoral support.

We choose and get speakers and trainers who are at the top of their fields; they come from across the UK, and have also come or are coming from Northern Ireland, Europe and America. Many are authors of books, journals and research and they offer the highest quality of insight and teaching to us here in Wales. Added to this they seem to like coming here as they are more than willing to return and do more, this is not only a positive reflection on how they experience us, it also honours the commitment and enthusiasm that they encounter in the people who come to Ffynnon’s events.

Ffynnon has about 1500 people that have chosen to be on its mailing list with more joining weekly. Delegates have travelled to our events from across the UK and beyond which more than suggests that we are offering something that is not only relevant and of the highest standard but is also hard to come by, and feedback from delegates confirms all of this.

Regular CPD is an essential ‘requirement’ for most professional organisations from the NHS to voluntary counselling agencies and we give CPD certificates to all our delegates. Unfortunately employees and volunteers often have to pay for their CPD out of their own pocket and with this in mind we want to be able to offer our events at even more of an affordable rate; we hope that we will be able to further reduce the cost to delegates as we raise funds for Ffynnon PPD as a Charity.

We believe that what we do and the way that we do it benefits the people that our delegates come into contact with; people in need of genuine, kind, safe and professional care and attention. In other words, by us caring for, and investing in those who care, better services can be offered to the public and that this in turn will bring health and well being to people and their communities.

We hope that Ffynnon truly makes a difference.

Canon Professor Brian Thorne, Patron of Ffynnon: "Ffynnon PPD was founded in faith and in the belief that the need for personal and professional development opportunities has never been greater for those in the helping professions. Since its inception this faith has proved to be amply justified.  More and more people are finding in Ffynnon and its stimulating programme a vital source of encouragement and new knowledge.  For workers in North Wales this is especially important but it is clear that Ffynnon's influence is now reaching many other parts of the United Kingdom.  With a more solid financial base an exciting future for Ffynnon would be assured"

Brian Thorne: Lay Canon, Norwich Cathedral; Emeritus Professor of Counselling, University of East Anglia; Fellow, British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy; Co-founder and Professional Fellow, the Norwich Centre.
